Sami Alsalloom, Doctoral Candidate in Education

My current research investigates how musical communities of practice interact with student sense of belonging and persistence within the California community college context.

In 2023, I will be completing my PhD in Education with interdisciplinary emphases in Cognitive Science and Quantitative Methods in Social Science. My scholarship bridges theory between Education, Psychology, Music, and Linguistics.

I am also completing a Certificate in College and University Teaching. My teaching philosophy incorporates a student-centered and data-driven approach to inquiry-based experiential learning activities. I practice an inclusive, culturally aware, and collaborative mentorship model.
